The Tortoise™ is a unique and simple positioning and offloading system that is easy to use, safe for both patients and caregivers and effective in offloading bony prominences. The ultra-low pressure air plenum communicates with the patient’s body, evenly redistributing the pressure to offload the sacrum and greater trochanter. This product is designed to center the patient while maintaining a low profile in the hospital bed, which should help decrease patient falls. The pneumatic characteristics of the Tortoise™ allow caregivers to easily turn and reposition the patient to the desired therapeutic angle. Less strain on caregivers’ necks and back should help reduce the occurrence of back injuries among nurses and hospital staff. The Tortoise Prone®: In addition to the above, the Tortoise Prone® will safely and simply rotate your patient from supine to prone position.
